Molly –
Please consider making this pattern for adults! I dream of a dress like this in a myriad of prints and colors and variations! Would become my uniform!!!
straightgrainblog@gmail.com –
Hi Molly, thank you for your encouraging comment 🙂 I will start working on an adult Ishi soon!
Jennifer –
I stumbled upon your blog this morning, and I love it, this pattern especially. An Ishi dress for adults – sleeveless or with cap sleeves would be dreamy!!! And I agree with Molly: it would be the ideal summer uniform.
In a Nano Iro double gauze…. oh be still my heart! 🙂
Jerri –
Can’t wait to see this dress but I completely agree that it should really come in adult sizes!
Agnès DESCHAMPS –
J’adore ce modèle, j’aimerai bien le même style pour Adulte !

Hi, how lovely this is.
Is it suitable for beginners?
straightgrainblog@gmail.com –
Yes, it is. The instructions are detailed so that beginners can make it too (and learn techniques like understitching, installing a hidden zipper, etc).
Megan resch –
Have you had the chance to make the adult pattern!???!!! Beautiful!
straightgrainblog@gmail.com –
No, not yet, I’m sorry 🙁 I have too many children’s patterns on the to-do list 😉
Palila –
What a beautiful dress!
Does the pattern include the info about where to buy the fabrics you see in your pictures?
straightgrainblog@gmail.com –
Yes, that info is in the pattern. All three are organic fabrics from the Australian brand UmbrellaPrints (http://umbrellaprints.com.au/). Highly recommended!
Jessica Glass –
What fabrics are recommended?
straightgrainblog@gmail.com –
Hi Jessica,
Wovens, either midweight of heavyweight work best 🙂
Laura Adams –
I love this little dress, and think my granddaughters will, too. How would I go about buying the pattern, if I’m using American dollars?
straightgrainblog@gmail.com –
Hi Laura, Thanks for your interest in the Ishi pattern 🙂
The currency will change automatically if you go through the payment process. Whether you use PayPal, Mastercard, Visa, … you will be charged in dollars, and you’ll see the exact amount in dollars before you hit the final ‘Place order’ button. To give you an idea: €1 is currently about $1.06
Andrea Harrold –
Hi I love this dress. Is the adult size pattern available? I want to make this for myself.
Thanks

I wish you’ll make this in tween & adult sizes too. my girl will not be able to wear this lovely patterns soon.
I love your patterns! very detailed instructions ?
Cynthia Barnes (verified owner) –
Hi! I love this dress, but it seems too big. did I do something wrong? I made the size 6Y, but it fits a girl who is a 12 and was swimming on girls who wear size 10. I printed it on 8 !’2 x 11″ paper andit looked like the mock up. Am I missing something?
An Kuppens –
I’m sorry to hear that. It sounds like something went wrong indeed. Could you check the following:
– Did you measure the test 1″x1″ square?
– You were aware that seam allowance was included?
– There is a table with measurements of the finished garment in the instructions. Could you compare to those measurements?
Anita McCarthy –
I am new to sewing and was wondering if it’s possible to make this dress sleeveless easily from the pattern? Thank you
An Kuppens –
Hi Anita,
Thanks for your question. Making them sleeveless is not impossible, but it all depends on how you would like to see the armholes finished. You could finish them with bias ribbon, or with an extended lining. In both cases, you would need to adapt the pattern a bit. If you’d like help with, just let me know! 🙂
nennynow –
Hi, I like the line of Ishi and Hanami. Is it possible to have Ishi sleeves on Hanami?
An Kuppens –
Thank you! The armholes of the Hanami are less deep than those of the Ishi. So if you would like to use the Ishi sleeves on the Hanami, just trace the arm hole of the Ishi on the Hanami bodice 😉

I saw everyone else asking about an adult version of this pattern… I just so love the simplicity and wish there was an adult size… 🙂
