In the past months, I’ve been working on a warm Winter coat pattern. Yes, it’s rather late to release a Winter coat pattern. But then, Winter has also been late this year 😉
The coat is double breasted, and comes with multiple options. There are two different front views: one with decorative seams and a pocket flap, and one with a patch pocket. You can choose between a standing collar, and a hood. And then there are optional decorative tabs which you can choose to add to the sleeves and/or shoulders.
The coat had a professional finish inside, with facings. However, this doesn’t mean that you will have to cut out a frustrating amount of different pattern pieces. I deliberately designed the coat in such a way that the pattern pieces of front main and lining are identical 🙂 A nice way to save you some time.
The instructions are detailed and have clear, digitally drawn illustrations so that beginning seamstresses can also make a perfect Winter coat. The pattern comes in sizes 1-12y, has printing layers and a printing table, so that you can save on paper and ink. The sizing table, list of materials, and yardage table are here (test version!).
The name Berlin refers to one of my favorite cities in the world, but first and foremost to John “Ich bin ein Berliner” Kennedy, whose kids often wore beautiful double breasted coats.
Testing
So, I’m looking for at least 30 testers to give this baby a try. Having a blog is not a condition, nor is being an experienced seamstress. Beginners are very welcome to apply. There is one condition, though, and that is that you make a Winter version, with batting. It’s okay if you would size one up, so that the coat can be worn next Winter too. But please don’t apply to make a version without batting, because that is not what the coat was designed for.
Selected testers will receive the pattern next Monday (Feb 1) and have 10 days to return a feedback form. There is an English and a Dutch version available. As a thank you, testers who complete a feedback form, will receive a copy of the final Berlin coat pattern, as well as one of the next StraightGrain pattern.
Please apply by filling out this form. [Closed]
Many, many thanks in advance, and have a splendid weekend!
