I’m currently working on two patterns at once: the Ishi and The Secret One. So progress is a bit slow, but I’m getting there.
Last week, I stitched up another Ishi to test the newest version of the pattern. My starting point was an old Echino fabric (‘Panther’ from 2010) which I used for the pockets. I combined it with a beautiful grey wool from Mer du Nord (MonDepot). As for the side panel, it first took me forever to decide on the fabric. But then I went with a mint 7-harlequin fabric from Michael Miller (remnant from this dress). But I didn’t like the result, so I unpicked it again. I replaced it with some Gold Cotton Couture Solid. I didn’t like the result either, so I unpicked it again, and replaced it with striped spacer fabric (remnant from this dress). Then, it was bed time.
I also included a little notch in the pocket.
A few days later, I tried to do a photo shoot, but Norah was in no mood whatsoever. The only acceptable picture is the one below, which is not even entirely sharp. But at least, she’s smiling 🙂
The dress is still too big, as you can see in the picture above. And for some unclear reason, Norah doesn’t want to wear it. I’m pretty bummed about that, because I actually picket the Echino fabric because I thought she’d love it – not because I liked it so much.
So, I’m still looking for the ultimate fabric combination to make a cover version for the Ishi pattern. Any suggestions?
