In a matter of weeks, Norah has transformed from a girl who only wants to wear dresses, into a girl who only wants to wear pants and sweaters. It started right when I finished that diamonds sweater.
Now, I have no problem at all with my girl dressing in a less girly way. But it is just impossible to keep up with laundry if she always wants to wear the same few items. So it was time for an Intervention. An Intervention Dress, to be more precise.
There was actually one exception to Norah’s only-sweats-and-pants policy: her Bambi dress. And that basic finding is what my entire Cunning Intervention Dress Plan is built on. I made her a dress in another Bambiblauw panel a few nights ago : the corn flowers. Apart from the stunning fabric, the dress is completely unspectacular: I used my Hanami pattern but left off the flutter sleeves and peter pan collar because I wanted to be in bed before 1pm.
Did my cunning plan work? Yes and no. It worked in the sense that she hasn’t worn pants since I finished the dress. It didn’t work in the sense that she only wants to wear her intervention dress now, which left me with the exact same laundry problem.
Maybe it’s just my imagination… But I could have sworn that, when Norah was putting on the dress for the third day in a row, I heard her whisper, “Check mate, mom”. My cunning plan appears to be flying right back into my face. Therefore, the Intervention Dress shall henceforth be called the Boomerang Dress.
