Two weekends ago, I was lucky enough to visit Paris together with 13 other kid sewing bloggers. I had such a great time during those three days with:
I’m not going to bore you with pictures of the Eiffel Tower and the Sacre Coeur – there are travel blogs which can provide you with a much better view of Paris-must-sees. Rather, I’d bore you with pictures of fabric shops. Ha!
One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to Atelier Brunette. The ‘atelier’ turned out to be a supercosy, superpretty, and supertiny fabric shop called Anna Ka. I knew Anna Ka Bazaar, and I knew Atelier Brunette, but until a few weeks before the trip I didn’t realise that they were both run by the same, very kind lady (Annabelle). Bernina very generously sponsored our trip, and treated us to some beautiful fabrics at Anna Ka (more on the fabrics later in this post). This is all of us together in front of Anna Ka:
But we also made some unscheduled visits to fabric shops. I loved visiting La Droguerie, a beautiful, classic Parisian shop filled with beautiful fabrics, yarn, buttons, beads, and notions.
I tried very hard to restrain myself there, first from adding another mustard fabric to my stash, and next from taking home the rolled-up fabric in the picture below. I was able to let go of the mustard fabric, but the Noisette fabric was more persistent, as were three meters of bias tape.
The other fabrics in the picture are all from cheap fabric stores in Montmartre. Some of these fabrics cost me as little as €4 per meter, and none cost more than €10. If you are ever in Paris, make sure to schedule a few hours for visiting the fabric shop district at the foot of the Sacre Coeur..
Many brands also generously sponsored us. Bernina not only sponsored our trip to Anna Ka, but also payed for one of our dinners. St Christopher’s Inn offered us a 50% reduction for our stay there – I never thought sharing a room between six people would be so comfortable! Several fabric companies and shops gave us gorgeous fabrics (Telaria, Lillestoff, Nosh, joy-fits, mon depot, Cousette, Nutta, Stoffe.de, imagine gnats, Alles für Selbermacher), threads, tools, and notions (Aurifil, Supercut, Snaply), Japanese sewing books (Tuttle), sewing magazines (Ottobre), and many, many indie designers offered us free patterns.

Selection of sponsored fabrics: nani IRO from Telaria, tigers from Nosh, Aterlier Brunette from Bernina, vanilla flamé from Nosh, Andrea Lauren from Alles für Selbermacher, aubergine knit from Lillestoff, and Liberty of London from Cousette.
Here is an overview of all the generous sponsors:
Would you like to participate in all the goodie goodness? We also asked our sponsors to send us something extra so we could share some fabrics and patterns with you. We have three amazing goodie bags which we will raffle off to you.
