I couldn’t resist when Suz of sewpony asked me to be part of her Dear Prudence blog tour. I love the vintage design of the dress, and saw so many beautiful test versions in her shop.
I picked a vintage style fabric from my stash: the three fat quarters of Anemoon fabric (from Veritas) were just enough for a dress for Ava. I combined it with mint piping from De Stoffenkamer.
The instructions to the pattern are very clear and detailed, and help you through all the steps. I also really love how the dress turned out. I used the cap sleeves option, but there is also an option with regular sleeves, and a sleeveless option.
I really like the elasticized back too:
So, why am I only showing pictures of the dress on a hanger, and not of Ava wearing it? Well, I did something rather stupid: Ava is 21 months, but I made her a size 18m because she is very petite (based on chest size, the 18m would even have room for growth). Only problem: I forgot that a smaller size also means a small neck opening. And so, I cannot pull the dress over her head. Oops.
I’m really bummed about it, because I really love the dress and I think Ava would look so pretty in it. I guess I owe her a new Prudence dress!
