Originally launched in 2013, the Tinny was a vintage style dress with multiple skirt, sleeve and collar options. It was named after the Belgian children’s book series Tiny, known for its illustrations of beautiful retro dresses.
Now, the pattern has been relaunched in more sizes, and with many more options. Rather than a retro style pattern, it is now an eclectic pattern which can be used for making dresses in an infinite number of styles.
Tinny closes with a hidden zipper in the back, and comes with 8 collar options, 2 bow options, 3 skirt options, 3 sleeve options, 2 bodice options, and can be made with or without faux pocket flaps. It is intended for woven fabrics (light, medium as well as heavy weight).

Dank je voor je interesse, Ann. $9 is momenteel ongeveer €8.30. Als je via overschrijving betaalt is het goedkoper omdat ik dan PayPalkosten uitspaar (dan mail je me best even). En geen nood, in de shop staat ook een Nederlandse versie. 😉

hello, I’m trying to checkout with my MasterCard but it says I should use the PayPal button then click on ‘ I don’t have a PayPal account ‘. I don’t see this option anywhere. secondly, does the tinny pattern have the cuffed sleeve option? hope to hear from you soon. thanks
straightgrainblog@gmail.com –
Hi Omotayo,
Thanks for your interest in the pattern. It appears that PayPal made a few changes. You will have to click “Check out as Guest” now, and then you can fill out your card details. Sorry for the confusion.
And the cuffed sleeve option is not available in the new pattern. I’m thinking of making a tutorial about it instead.
Many thanks, and please let me know (an[[at]]straight-grain.com) if you need any help!

This pattern is simply wonderful! The instructions are very clear, easy to follow and the dress comes together quickly. The pattern uses an invisible zipper, but I just put a normal one in and it worked fine. The fit is good, although I think I might grade in between sizes when making the next one (my daughter is quite slim). Maybe a little section in the instructions about achieving a custom fit would be helpful for Beginners? Anyway, she loves her new dress and I can see me making many, many more. I would love an adult version of this dress too! 🙂
Thanks for this fantastic pattern!

Did I read that the Tinny sleeves will work on the Ishi Dress? Will the Tinny collars also fit Ishi?
An Kuppens –
Yes, they will. 🙂
Zaskia –
