A few days ago, Chat Chocolat released its newest fabric line, called All animals are equal. It’s a reference to George Orwell’s famous quote, “All animals are equals, but some are more equal than others”. Designer Véronique wanted to put the spotlight on animals which are generally less popular in fashion, such as flies and crows.
The collection consists of 4 French Terry fabrics (flies, crows, penguins, and unicorns) and 4 solid jerseys in the same colors. I picked the flies fabric, because I really like the color and the funny print.
I made a dress for Norah, using my Feliz pattern. I took 1 size smaller, and I used the 3/4 sleeves but lengthened them to long sleeves by simply extending the lines. I cut the back yoke and skirt on the fold, leaving out the 1 cm (3/8″) seam allowance for the zip.
For the neckline, I used the solid jersey, as I don’t like ribbing in contrasting colors. Because the jersey has little stretch, I had to widen and deepen the neckline.
I also made a little sweater for Ava. But more on that later.
The quality of the collection is impeccable as always. I love all the prints and colors.
Chat Chocolat fabrics are sold by these retailers. Thank you Véronique and Editex for sending me this beautiful fabric.
